Why jewellery demands a different search habit

A ring is not one signal. Size, alloy, orientation and surrounding metal change its response. Thin gold and small ear studs can sit among foil and pull-tab readings. Strong discrimination may quiet the site but also silence what you hoped to find. On a permitted beach, search an agreed zone in overlapping lanes, investigate repeatable low and mid responses, and accept that some rubbish is the price of completeness. A wet-sand programme helps with salt response; it does not identify gold.

Choose the search, then the settings

On a permissioned inland site, modern aluminium litter may overlap the jewellery you hope to find; aggressive rejection is a trade-off, not a free improvement. Keep one known small modern item for a lawful practice session and vary its orientation on the surface. That teaches the sound of a weak target without pretending it predicts every buried ring.
