What multi-frequency should solve
A simultaneous multi-frequency detector transmits and processes more than one frequency during the search. That gives the machine more information to work with when the ground, target conductivity or salt response changes. For a UK buyer, the strongest reason to choose simultaneous multi-frequency is versatility. A detectorist may move from pasture to mineralised soil, then use the same machine on conductive wet salt sand. The technology can help maintain stability and sensitivity across those changes, but the search mode, ground settings, coil control and operator still matter. No frequency system makes every target deep or every ID accurate.

That limitation can be useful at the start: the operator learns sweep height, overlap and signal repeatability instead of chasing minor numerical changes. It becomes less attractive when detailed audio adjustment or fine target separation is the main requirement.
Why wet salt sand changes the decision
Salt water makes beach sand electrically conductive. A detector can interpret that broad ground response as a target, producing chatter, false tones or unstable numbers. A suitable multi-frequency Beach mode can separate more of that salt response from a compact metal target than a basic inland setup, although black sand, moving water and coil contact can still cause noise.

Do not confuse waterproofing with salt performance
A waterproof detector can be submerged to its stated depth without necessarily operating quietly on salt. A detector with good salt processing may still have a non-submersible control box. Check both specifications independently.
All three shortlisted detectors are fully waterproof to 5 m, but ordinary wireless radio does not work reliably under water. Submerged searching may require the manufacturer's compatible waterproof headphones and connector arrangement. Rinse permitted waterproof parts with fresh water after salt exposure and follow the manual's seal and charging-port instructions.
Choose the control level before the brand
Use the VANQUISH 360 when you want the machine to make most frequency and mode decisions. Choose the SCORE when you want a useful middle ground with a clearer target scale and standard adjustments. More control is not automatically more performance. A calm factory profile with good coil discipline will usually reveal more than an over-sensitive custom programme. If the detector becomes unstable, lower sensitivity before increasing discrimination and retest a real target from two directions.
Coil size still shapes the result
The coil determines ground coverage, target separation, balance and sensitivity to target size. A large coil can cover clean pasture efficiently but combines more ground and nearby metal into each response. Keep the supplied coil level and close to the surface without scrubbing. Changing height at the end of every arc can create more inconsistent signals than the frequency system removes.
